Re: Caersws Away, a must win!
Good to see the club getting back on track. And the team climbing the table. Getting a run together has obviously improved confidence. Conno doing a good job. Must be in the running for the job on a permanent basis.

It's early days, but four wins on the bounce must surely bode well for the future & guarantee his place as manager at least until the end of the season.
Just for context, (I got a bit nerdy), some figures...
Niall's season:
P 10
W 2
D 5
L 3
20% win rate
Conno:
P 5
W 4
D 0
L 1
80% Win rate
For me, it's a no brainer to keep him on to the end of the season. He's making himself look like a full time manager.

Re: Caersws Away, a must win!
Sorry to be the cautionary one again especially as its in the period Nov-Jan when I cant get to games.,
Just pointing iut that the last-minute win was against the 3rd fom bottom club who have avoided defeat only 4 times this season.
The impression one gets from the results is that we are still on a similar foitballing level as earlier in the season but that the spirit has changed and that we are now getting the extra crucial goals to turn draws into wind. Also adds to feel-good factor in fans and so attendances and so finance. Getting the best available out of resources like this and instilling pride is what a manager can do. Conno has succeeded and should get the job.
Just make sure the feel-good factor does nt get fans to pile on unrealistic expectations on to the team. Team spirit and enthusiasm can only get you so far. No sign of Caernarfon collapse. They will continue each week to outscore us snd its not within our power to catch them, just theirs to lose. Given everything, top 3 is a good result this season and we should thank Conno if we achieve it. Then next season, raise our sights higher

Re: Caersws Away, a must win!
I hear what you're saying Ioio, and we must remain cautious. We've obviously had a terrible few years & here we are in the Huws Gray.
However, a last minute winner is a great result regardless of who we are playing. Even better for morale. Yes, we could argue that we should be beating a team like Caersws handsomely, but that's not where we are at the moment.
We've not had 4 wins on the bounce for years, so let's enjoy it, for now.
It probably won't last, we'll all go back to musing over spilt milk before long. But whilst it lasts, I'm happy to dream. Bring on Holyhead.

Re: Caersws Away, a must win!
Ioio just a reminder that you’ve been following a club that has been relegated 2 seasons on the bounce andnd find themselves where they (We) are.. if we were still in the hands of Niall we would “I Guarantee” be fighting another relegation battle Conno has took the reins added some lads started playing some lads Binned some lads and their is a lot of positivity around at the moment, please try your best to keep it this way as 99% of the other contributors to this forum try too do, there has been a superb turn of fortunes since Niall was asked to clear his locker which is Mainly down to Conno, every football club has negative supporters this forum has One... I bet your a bundle of laughs really.. Keep the Faith and treat yer missus/Fella to a chippy Tea x

Re: Caersws Away, a must win!
Lets be honest here. We were by far the best side today. We missed Conno in midfield, and changed the system because of this. We had our manager in goal, and we still won.
We should have been four up at half time, that is no exageration.
Disappointing we gave two soft goals way though.

I don't think that post is fair to Ioio.
When the chips were down & we were getting twatted over the last few seasons, Ioio was always the one to provide positivity on this forum. Always the one to provide a light.

Re: Caersws Away, a must win!
We were competing against a stubborn Caersws team and their 12th man who must have thought he was officiating a rugby game with the amount of fouls he let go.
Rhyl were head and shoulders above Caersws and Conno didn't have much to do apart from let in their only two shots on target.
I left the game feeling more upbeat than I have for a long time. We're not the finished article but we're getting back on track.
One tinge of sadness for those who have been used to seeing Caersws v Rhyl games over the past 20something years; The ball sponsor today was the family of the late Peter "GPO" Jones, rather than the man himself who hailed from Rhyl before settling in the village. It's nice to see that his family are keeping up the tradition of sponsoring these games.
