Re: Domestic License
Bangor demoted but Nomads' appeal successful.
Bangor set to implode?

Re: Domestic License
Bangor will come back in one shape or another, they have too much of a fanbase to die.
In fairness to the Bangor fans I know, they've always thought it would end in tears.... maybe just a little sooner than they expected though!!
Wouldn't like to be one of Bangor's creditors at the moment....

Re: Domestic License
Well, well, well! As most of you will know, I've long viewed the WPL with total distain.
NOW, without both Rhyl AND Bangor, it's become an even bigger farce than even I envisaged!

Sat next to a couple of BCFC fans at the Wales Northern Ireland game in Paris and they were worried then and that is two years ago. I didn't have a press pass😎.

Re: Domestic License
It doesn't take a genius to identify this was only going to end in one way. Possibly sooner than most imagined, probably.
The situation amongst some Bangor fans was same as at what happened at Widnes. Supporters hoping that things have changed and everything will end up rosy somehow and that previous issues were genuine mistakes....
Be interesting to see what happens next and what shape Bangor are in next season financially with the loss of the European Money.

Re: Domestic License
So Bangor are with us in CA next season, as are Prestatyn. Carmarthen reprieved, Llanelli and Caernarfon promoted. Loads of euro cash to one club other than TNS, Bala and Nomads. Either Druids, Met, Bala or Aberystwyth. Maybe even Newtown if they take Bangor's place in play-offs. So all in WPL involved in end-of-season drama - except for boring, boring Llandudno. They wont be after any more of our players

Re: Domestic License
Seriously ffred how can you dress this latest wpl fiasco up as anything but a fiasco.
Yes bangors corrupt directors have a lot to answer for but the reality is its yet another club chasing the euro pot of Gold and leaving themselves in debt. They will struggle to stay afloat with a wage bill racking up debts and no euro money to pay them off.
Add to that prestatyn effectively being an amateur club just to fulfill a fixture list.
Its a shambles.
Average crowd figures should be amusing next season

Re: Domestic License
Its a situation with no winners - except for Carmarthen !!
By relegating clubs like Rhyl and Bangor for non-footballing reasons, the league has weakened itself. But turning a blind eye to clubs not fulfilling their obligations would hold the league up to even more condemnation, and possibly endanger our national status and experiences such as #euros2016.
FAW has a simple responsibility - if you set up a national league, dont do it as a tickbox exercise, but use a few of the millions to properly finance it in grants for facilities and attractive domestic prize money, do that clubs dont feel tempted to sell out to dodgy owners

Re: Domestic License
Prize money and decent payments right through the league would definitely help.
The disparity in income between euro qualifier and the rest is ridiculs, and ends up with clubs paying wages they cant afford in the hope of qualifying.
And when they don't they go under.
Its fucked. And unsustainable on crowds of barely 200.
Laughing at llanelli back in the top flight.
Nothing club that won a title on the back of going full time, then went best cos crowds of 150 don't pay for £400 a week wages

Lot of truth there - although I think its better to express admiration in the way that Llanelli came back from extinction to climb through three divisions back up in a short time. Testimony to the hard-working volunteers and they got a license on the back of that hard work. More sustainable to support them than speculators.
It would cost the FAW a million and a half per year to give every WPL club £75,000 p.a. and every tier 2 club (north and south)£20,000 p.a. (a little more if there were "parachute payments". This would be in recognition of the work of the clubs and contribution to football not "prize money" as such. The euro money would then be the "prize" for success rather than the base for survival. The prize money for tier 2 clubs would be the increased money for being in WPL. Just ideas off top of my head. But clubs' representatives should be making it clear to FAW that they have to invest if they want a viable league structure
