maybe the pitch was the same for both sides it was a disgrace but they will have trained and had pre season games on it giving thm an advantage. getting the local farmer to cut it and then waiting for it to be marked didnt help . aftercutting it was still ver bad.back four very shakey goalie outstanding forwards playing against 10 men in their box al in all very very dissapointing we can only get better

Never previously reached Fred?!!!

I'm pretty certain the sides of the late 40's and early 50's that won 2 Cheshire league titles, back to back Welsh cups when it was a proper Welsh cup and reached the 4th Rd of the fa Cup were the pinnacle of the club

Poor result obviously but like mentioned we did create a lot of chances but so did they. The more worrying thing was they made Rory work but their keeper didn't have that many saves to make. We were just not getting our shots away quickly enough.

I am not sure we played the correct formation either, 3 at the back against a side that is expected to be in the bottom half baffles me somewhat.

We looked a lot better when Pritch came on, and also Torrence did well.

Best player was Cook without doubt but Murphy and Worrall showed some neat touches as well.

Sooner Stewie gets back in midfield the better. I also feel we have a lack of pace at the back.

Rory - Top class and this lad can make it into the football league.

Lack of pace at the back.... no one to put the ball in the back of the net....too slow in the buildup.... no bite in midfield.

It's Groundhog Day at Belle Vue as last season's issues return.

Having said that, previous posters are right to caution against unrealistic expectations fuelled by the local media.

A 23 man squad including 13 new faces and 4 returners is going to take time to gel, although I would expect a few departures this autumn as game time for some proves difficult to achieve.

The surprising failure to sign a proven main striker remains a concern, but we should remember that when we last won the Cymru Alliance in 2012/13 we did so without an outstanding goal scorer: contributions came from multiple forwards and midfielders.

Eddie sounded rather despondent on Saturday in his post match interview, but a reality check at this early stage will be no bad thing for players and management.

Better to look at this as a long term project, starting with improved performances at Ruthin and Prestatyn before our first home game against Penrhyncoch.

Remember how long it took Sir Alex Ferguson to turn round Manchester United after he became manager in 1986. Not that we should set the bar too high, of course...

All fair comment. True that there was no individual high scorer in 2012-13, but we did score 100 Goals i.e. 3.3 goals per game.

Not going to happen
