Penrhyncoch

Battled to a 1-0 win tonight.
I've seen Rhyl teams play at least 4 times at Penrhyn since around 2011. The performance wasnt as good in footballing terms as the 6-0 win, but the battling spirit of the team was far better than the other performances.

The team often battled to win the ball back and were really up for it, whereas some of our teams in the past would not have fancied a cold Friday January evening in Penrhyncoch. Well done to all in instilling this spirit into the team.
The goal after just 10 minu6tes was typical - ball forced through the keeper (yes, that one !) and over the line more or less by willpower !

Some good play then but the second goal would just not come. And we did endure a number of scary moments as Carl Lamb was the focal point for all their long high balls deep into our box. But we got the three points, and that's the first of the more difficult challenges safely out of the way.

A couple of former officials from Aber there. They explained off-the-record why they got rid of Lamby (for non-footballing reasons), and they were also impressed with a number of Rhyl's footballers.

Good second-half stand-off behind the goal between 15 Rhyl fans and some local Penrhyncoch women - who fair play gave as good as they took !

Ben Nash is just phenomenal.

Solid performance at a tough place to go, especially on a Friday

the defense kept lamb and co at bay for the 90- great display -- rory when called on did great and we should have had a couple more --boss had to tweak the team cos 2 players missing joe sully and joe culshaw with cai being a bit ill but management did great with selections -- how come lamb has signed for them - what a long trip from birkenhead for him i thought we should have been kicking his door down - a very tough place to go on a cold january nite and a torturous drive back to liverpool i got in at 1-45 am after dropping everyone off but well well worth it another big game for us next sat portmadhoc cant wait

Re signing o Carl Lamb, havb=ve to be careful here and Jon welcom to delete anbything, but ex-Aber official explained in private conversation last night why they got rid of Lamb for non-footballing reasons, and the allegation was serious. He 0obviously has still contacts in that area, hence the Penrhyncoch connection
btw - how about Cai's goal-of-the-season (which didnt actually go in). He came on despite flu for past 15 minutes or so - as we had only two outfielders on the bench. He brought the ball forward out of defnece straight down the middle and unleashed from 35 yards out a vicious swerving shot - which their keeper dived and palmed to safety. Brilliant acquisition
