Saturday!!

No priessure but this game is HUGE, a chance to get into the quarter finals of the Welsh Cup and it’s a great chance. Albeit being a tough game at the same time, there’s a good chance of also getting a favourable draw in the next round if successful.

Hopefully there’s a good following going down on the bus as I’m sure they’ll have a good support

yes looking forward to this game -tuesdays training cancelled but rearranged for tnite so the the team will be geared up for this one i watched clydbach in the final and they look like a well organised team they will be tough to crack but we have been in excellent form lately and we will be well up for it - the way eddie and co. have been managing games has been brilliant and he will have a plan in mind to win this game - long trip but it will be well worth it and hopefully a good draw for the next game

With KP now gone as well as Chambers and our new striker cup-tied, will we have any options on the bench for central striker tomorrow ?

Re: Saturday!!

A bitterly disappointing result in appalling conditions on a not-the-best 3G surface, although of course the weather was the same for both sides.

Our lack of a prolific proven goalscorer once again contributed to our downfall, but conceding a goal to a punt from the opponent's half and then failing with three penalties is simply unacceptable.

I am sure the management already know what they have to do to take us to the next level, but hopefully this result will serve as a reality check to those supporters whose expectations and recent pronouncements have been unrealistically optimistic.

Now let's look forward to a positive reaction at home to Conwy next week.

Re: Saturday!!

Certainly disappointing, but the performance (with the exception of finishing as has been pointed out) was excellent.

We were playing away to a top-3 Tier 2 team in the south who had already edged past TNS, Newtown etc in Cup comps this season. At half-time their fans asked me more about Rhyl as they reckoned that Rhyl were by far the superior team.
Bad conditions and they were more used to the plastic pitch and slipped less, but that didnt stop us from playing.
Typical ferocious cup-tie. Rhyl started at 100mph and, with that and with the probably unaccustomed sound of away fans shouting a couple of yards behind them, Cambrian defence seemed terrified first 15 minutes.
But we didnt score. Shots whistled past the post and just over and for the first hour we had a lot of players taking a chance of getting into the box to take advantage of their keeper's fumblings.
Bit of a warning sign that they held out for 0-0 by HT. Should point out that we did hit the woodwork 3 times. After one such miss, Cambrian brought the ball out of defence, spotted Rory off his line and they scored from the halfway line. 5 Minutes later Barry did race into the box and got on the end of Murphy's cross after good work down the left.
Following the opening period they became tighter in defence.
Into extra time and on 108 minutes they scored out of nothing. I still had by head in my phone on twitter and the ball was in our net. Again within 3 minutes we were level forcing the ball in from a corner.
Went to penalties. Their keeper was always 2 yards off his line, their penalties were excellent, while ours suggested that - just before a cup-tie - we hadnt been practising pens.
But we lost not because of the penalties, but because we didnt make our superiority (massive first 15 mins but evident thro the game) count. Hassall, Murphy and Cai cut thro them down the wings, Pritch buzzed around, but nearly always there was no clinical finish.
There we go - we can concenrate now on a fight with Bangor and possibly Fflint and Port for 2nd position in the league. Always with the faint possibility that Airbus could crash-land either on the pitch or in licensing. But aim high so as to set ourselves up for next season and try to retain key players of which there are now many - Hassall, Murphy, Cai, Nash etc

Could be wrong but I’m guessing either (a) the money it would take to put people on contract or (b) players not wanting to be on contract because it gives them flexibility to move.

Didn't see the game but reading the comments it's the same old can't score goals. Only K.P. knew how to take penalties & he's gone. How many have noticed when they finish their warm up and have kick around before going into the dressing room most of the shots never reach the goal & they can't score in an open net. On a bright note Flint only free and are a point behind us having played the same number of games.
