Re: Whos going to win the league?

I dont think the league is as strong as last season - which is a big surprise. Airbus are the only other club which appear to be stronger.

Caernarfon have gone. Fflint are still very unpredictable. Teams like Holywell, Denbigh , Guilsfield appear a lot weaker than last season. Prestatyn have disappointed so far. As for Bangor, is the sudden resignation of their Ldies' team from the northern league a further sign of a club imploding ?

Besides Airbus (and its early days yet for them, not convnced), it appears that the only thing necessary this season for a good team like Rhyl is consistency. Some will say grinding out results. I still say make sure we score 3+ a game so that we can afford errors which are inevitable at this level.

We shall all have a much better idea come the end of September. Lets go into that Airbus match with another 3 league wins under our belts.

I disagree with you, the league is far stronger. Look at our game against Cfon, and weve had a mixed start. Look at Bangor v Llandudno. If anything the CA is closing the gap.

They'll be a few twists and turns along the way, I'd expect Airbus Bangor to be the yardsticks to measure what we are up against, But a player said to me in preseason "We will be up there"

Dont follow the logic. Bangor lost at home to Llandudno who havent won a game in the WPL yet. Rhyl are getting better and better results now, great. You can argue that Airbus are as good as last season, and Port and Penrhyncoch a bit better than last year. But the strongest team by far (Cofis) have gone, Bangor and Prestatyn have disappointed and practically all other clubs are worse than last season including those who finished ahead of us - Denbigh, Holywell, Guilsfield.

We thought that the league would have improved greatly, but it doesnt seem to be turning out that way

It’s 5 games in at least leave it until 10/15 games before talking about this surely??

I’d prefer us to go under the radar to begin with. All the pre season talk of “favourites” from the press, and comments on here I think meant the players were nervous. Seems they’ve all settled down the last 2/3 games and performances have improved, you win nothing for being top in September.

You cannot tell if the league is stronger or not yet. It is more competitive though, you can see that with most teams bar Airbus dropping points.

Be a good game them against Bangor this weekend.

All we need to do though is concentrate on our games and I don't mind if we win 1-0 or 5-2, you still get the same amount of points.

But you're more likely to finish up with the points if you've built up a 2 or 3 goal margin, to allow for lapses, refs decisions etc.

Totally agrree that the league appears a lot more competitive this season

Decision month for Airbus. Play Bangor next, and also this month Porthmadog away and us at our place as well as Guilsfield. If they get through that lot unbeaten and still on top at the end of the month, then they will take some catching.

I reckon they'll be grounded more than once
