Re: Whos going to win the league?

OK, so after today's matches, Guilsfield move above us, but we're looking downwards and Denbigh and Holywell (last night) both lost heavily. Neither the two of them nor us scored a goal between us. So we are 2 places and 2 points above the relegation zone. IOn the next round of matches, if we lose at Holywell and Denbigh pick up a point at home we're in the relegation zone

Lets be honest - the frightening thing is that with every seson and every change of manager we appear to get worse. Lets stir things a bit. Just 3 seasons ago, we had Gareth Owen. He was sacked midway thro the season even though we were playing good attractive football - can only dream now of Connor, Rob and John Owen up front. Problem was that none of these three very good footballers scored enough goals, and luck went against us.

In came Niall, and everyone understood that it would take a bit of time. Relegated after 15 months but it was a long-term project but there was spirit and fight in the team. We had skilful footballers like Conno, Titch, Webb. But we were poorer than before, never before when we had been in Tier 2 were we out of the top 2 or 3. Now we were 6th, and losing to an unheard of team in the Cup was the final straw and out went Niall.

Conno took over and again had a rather basic 3-year plan of which he was given 5 months. Things went down initially, improved and then dropped off again. Final position at the least no improvement on Niall's performance.

So changed again, and another wholesale clearout of players except that we kept Murphy whom Conno had brought in and is a real asset. We are now a perilous bottom half second tier club (who should not expect to beat the good clubs) rather than being a disappointing top half Tier 2 club. Niall and Matthew have been back during the last week and won, and maybe Conno will complete the trio next week - we could do with his drive as a player anyway.

Losing five games on the trot in Tier 2 and being close to relegation with the league challenge over by September is the lowest point ever. Change again ? Would probably result in getting worse still and being relegated to Tier 3. Cant help thinking that we might be in a better state now if Gareth Owen was still here, if Niall was still here, or if Conno was still here.

So the moral of the story is probably a clear statement now that the current management have all this season whatever happens and hope that the confidence spreads. But realism, no cr@p of suggestions that beating Holyhead 2-1 in a week or so is "turning a corner" or that one player coming back from injury is going to change anything.

The only thing which will change things is hard work, good planning and making it clear that no-one is under any threat this season of getting sacked whatever happens - that gives them the space and fair chance in which to work.

Then look at it in the Spring

But look at the budgets those sides had. I’m guessing this years budget is nowhere near what they were spending

I believe, may be wrong, that the overall budget is substantially larger than the average for this league. Are there more than a couple of clubs which spend more than ust this season ? I'm guessing Bangor and Airbus and that's probably it. Fflint have been very prudent with the cash these last few seasons

Seriously, if we lost BV, then there would be no realistic way back for the club. We're in a bad way, but those running the club have at least kept the whole set-up alive through their hard work. Presumably one eye always on the future

Flint, Airbus, Porthmadog, Bangor will all have bigger budgets than what we are spending this season.

Its well known that budgets win leagues. So what you are saying is based on this we should be 5th. We are no way the 5 th best side in this league.

Tbh it would be preferable to start again. The standard of fare at belle vue is an embarrassment to all the quality players down the years. The egos of the higher elchons must be massive not to feel ashamed of how far they have let this club fall. If everyone is so concerned about budgets, get rid of the massive management structure, stop paying the players! Anyway belle vue too big for the club now anyway. Ask the council to put a cover in the corrs and you have a Welsh alliance standard ground.

Understand the point you are making, but your mistake is to confine everything to the present. Keeping BV is keeping hold of our proud history and a statement of intent for the future #fegodwnnieto
